Tuition fees

Tuition fees for 2012/13 will be: 24, 500 for overseas students; 9,000 for Home/EU students. Please refer to the following website for more details: http://www3.imperial.ac.uk/registry/finance/tuitionfees. Below we detail studentships available for home and EU students

Academic requirements

The academic requirements for admission to the MSc in Bioinformatics and Theoretical Systems Biology Programme are 2:1 (or overseas equivalent as determined by Natural Sciences Admissions) in any biological, physical, computational or mathematical first degree course. We are keen to encourage graduates from numerical and physical sciences to join the course.

Interviews and application deadlines

Recruitment opens at the end of November of each year, with the first interview round taking place in January. There will be a rolling deadline for applications i.e. we will keep taking applications until we have accepted approximately 20 students. However, due to the limited number of scholarships available and deadlines for overseas scholarships in general, it is suggested that you apply as soon as recruitment reopens. Please refer to the application details online for admission to the MSc in Bioinformatics Programme - all applications MUST follow these guidelines to be considered for this program. http://www3.imperial.ac.uk/pgprospectus/howtoapply

Once your application is received by CISBIO, you will receive an email from us, and you should hear about that status of your application within four weeks. Please make sure that your referees have submitted their references. If you are shortlisted for interview, we will contact you regarding the interview format, date and time. If your application is not shortlisted for interview, you will be notified by the e-admissions online application system.

Your application must be received by CISBIO by the following dates to allow processing before the Registry deadlines. However, if you wish to apply after these dates, please also follow the guidelines above, and send a copy of your application to bioinformatics@imperial.ac.uk with the subject header "MSc application" and we may be able to consider your application:

a) Overseas applications deadline - June 30th
b) Home/ EU applications deadline - August 31st

Further information about the program is available below:
http://www3.imperial.ac.uk/pgprospectus/facultiesanddepartments/lifesciences/postgraduatecourses/bioinformatics

Please be aware that we do not do any 'wet lab' research as part of our courses, it is purely computer based.

Scholarships

We have a limited number of BBSRC scholarships available each year for UK citizens and EU citizens that meet the residency criteria. If you are a home or EU student you will be automatically considered for a scholarship. Please apply as soon as you can if you wish to be considered for a scholarship as these scholarships are limited and are allocated on a competitive basis (based on your performance in the interview if you are shortlisted). The guidelines on what constitutes eligibility on a perceived British background and residency status are complex - please see the following websites for eligibility for BBSRC Masters training grants:

http://www.bbsrc.ac.uk/web/FILES/Guidelines/studentship_eligibility.pdf

Overseas applicants

If you are not an UK/EU citizen, we do not have any finance for our MSc.

If you are an international student, please note that our deadline for processing overseas applications is June 30th. Please see the following website for students applying for visas:
