Bioinformatics Support Service |
The Bioinformatics Support Service (BSS) provides hardware, bioinformatics software, local copies of biological databases, and support and training on many aspects of bioinformatics. Please follow the link below for help and information on all aspects of the service as well as access to many web-based programs |

web-site is currently only available if you are accessing from within
the ic.ac.uk (or imperial.ac.uk, or csc.mrc.ac.uk) domain
We
hope to make aspects of the site available outside in the near
future.

The BSS provides college-wide access to staff and students on all campuses:
Hardware resources – Our own login server (8 processor Sun V880)
Access to shared resources (e.g. 24 processor Sun 6800) through the High Performance Computing/E-Science centre
A wide range of centrally maintained bioinformatics software
Local up-to-date copies of a wide range of public biological databases
Disk storage for users (with backup and RAID redundancy)
Access to four full-time members of bioinformatics staff with extensive experience
Help-desk via email and web interface
Web-site, with extensive help documentation and tutorials and access to many web-based programs
One-to-one or group tutorial sessions and site visits (multi- campus)
Formal teaching - half day practical-based training courses (under development)
Development of bespoke scripts and interfaces e.g. for large-scale or bespoke data analysis
Project-based consultation and research collaboration
